Marco Fusi is a violinist and a composer. He studied at “G.Verdi” conservatoire in Milan, and then he attended specialization courses with Pavel Vernikov, Jeanne Marie Conquer, Ernst Kovacic and Dimitrios Polisoidis.
The involvement with contemporary music has led him to several performances of “recent” music (such as numerous first performances of Castiglioni, Eötvös, Sciarrino, Vacchi, Solbiati, Cattaneo, Shimura…). He regularly plays with Algoritmo Ensemble (Marco Angius, conductor) with whom he recorded a monographic CD dedicated to Ivan Fedele’s chamber music. As an Algoritmo’s Member, he works with Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, often playing at Parco della Musica Concert Hall (Rome).
Moreover he used to play with the ensemble Risognanze in many concerts and recordings.
He attended the Ferienkurse für Neue Musik in Darmstadt, attending Dimitrios Polisoidis and Rohan de Saham’s lessons. In the same year he has been invited by CNSMD (Lyon) to participate to the “Jeunesse Moderne”, a special course dedicated to the chamber contemporary music. On this occasion he played as violinist and viola player.
Furthermore he co-operates with many orchestras such as the Symphonica Toscanini, International Philharmonia of California, Orchestrer der Tiroler Festspiele (Erl), “Accademia del Teatro la Scala” and other instrumental groups such as Algoritmo (Roma), Hermesenemble (Antwerp), Divertimento Ensemble (Milano), Impuls Academy Ensemble (Graz), il Secret Theatre Ensemble, playing together with conductors and soloist namely Pierre Boulez, Lorin Maazel, Peter Eötvös , Beat Furrer, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Gustav Kuhn, Jürg Wyttenbach, Jean Deroyer, Marco Angius, Sandro Gorli, Riccardo Chailly, Mario Caroli, Marco Rogliano, Paul Badura-Skoda, Mario Brunello, Vadim Repin, Francesco Manara, Tomhas Demenga.
He is presently member of Lucenre Festival Academy, under artistic and musical direction of Pierre Boulez. He worked closely with Boulez, Peter Eötvös and Jean Deroyer on Stockhausen’s “Gruppen”. In summer 2010, he performed Mahler’s sixth symphony with the conduction of M° Pierre Boulez.
Marco is also a composer. His compositions have been performed in many concert halls, including Verbania’s “Per Adesso” festival, “Batique” festival and Notturni in Villa Simonetta (Milan), “rassegna Fiesolana” (Fiesole), Disney Hall (Los Angeles). The artists who played there are both soloists and young ensembles that have different backgrounds. During the collaboration with AGON centre, his piece “Bebuten” (for percussionist and live electronics) has been performed. After this he kept exploring the live electronic and he composed the soundtrack for the movie “…ovunque, purché fuori dal mondo…” by Enrico Maisto. The first performance of “ad mortem festinamus” (for archlute and live electronics) in Schola Cantorum (Basil) is the start of a new research into historical instruments. Some of his compositions have been recorded and broadcast by the Italian national television (Rai Tre).
