Vittorio Montalti was born in Rome in 1984.He obtained Bachelor degrees in piano under the guidance of Aldo Tramma at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia di Roma and in composition with Alessandro Solbiati at the Conservatorio G. Verdi di Milano.He has also studied composition with Frederic Durieux at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris under the auspics of the Erasmus Programme.He is currently attending Cursus 1 at IRCAM as well as studying for a Masters in Composition with Alessandro Solbiati at the G. Verdi Conservatory and with Ivan Fedele at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia di Roma.He has attended master-classes and courses held by Luca Francesconi, Azio Corghi, Gabriele Manca, Luca Antignani, Luis de Pablo and Toshio Hosokawa.He has received the Silver Lion at La Biennale di Venezia 2010.He was also a prize-winner in composition competitions such as “Concorso internazionale del Conservatorio di Milano”, “Galleria d’arte moderna di Milano”, “E. Carella”, “Premio delle arti-AFAM” and “Vieri Tosatti”, and was recently selected for the San Fedele Young Artists Prize 2010-2013.In 2009 he was selected for the Aleph Ensemble 6th International Forum for Young Composers. As an outcome of this residency a CD together with a book of interviews were published.He received commissions from La biennale di Venezia, Divertimento Ensemble, Festival Pontino, Bergamo Musica Festival, Fondazione Culturale San Fedele and RomaTreOrchestra.
His music has been performed at various festivals and concert seasons as La Biennale di Venezia, Festival Pontino, Rondò, Auditorium Parco della Musica,
Théâtre Dunois (Paris), Conservatoire National Superior de Musique et Danse de Paris, Festival Slowind (Ljubliana), Zentral und Landesbibliothek (Berlin), Centro San Fedele di Milano, Giornate Gesualdiane Internazionali (XI edizione), Accademia Internazionale della Musica/IRMus, Italian Culture Institute of Melbourne and Sydney (Progetto Sonora- CEMAT), RomaTreOrchestra, Concerti della Villa Reale di Milano, GAMO – Gruppo Aperto Musica Oggi, Festival URTIcanti, MUMAT-museo delle macchine tessili, Accademia di Danimarca a Roma by artists such as Irvine Arditti, Giovanni Sollima, Dario Savron, Francesco Dillon, Emanuele Torquati, Francesco Gesualdi, Maria Grazia Bellocchio, Luigi Attademo, Annamaria Morini, Roberto Prosseda, Laura Catrani, Ljuba Bergamelli and ensembles such as Ensemble Multilatérale, Aleph Ensemble, Divertimento Ensemble, Dèdalo Ensemble, etc.

He has also worked with orchestras such as Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto (cond. André de Ridder) and RomaTreOrchestra (cond. Valerio Vicari).His music has been broadcast by RadioTre and Radio Vaticana.
His music is published by Edizioni Suvini Zerboni – Milano.
